Webmail "Purge" or "Trash" Emails and Effects on Disk Quota

In our Roar Solutions webmail interface seen here: https://webmail.roarsolutions.com/ we wish to help answer a few questions and go over a few items in regards to deleting emails and it's effects on your email account quota.

Please note that all email accounts are set to a maximum size quota of 25GB of space.

QUESTION:
If I delete an email and it goes to my trash folder is this still taking up disk space in regards to my email quota?
ANSWER:
Yes. Trash would take up storage in webmail. You would need to "Purge" the trash BUT our systems allow for email recovery of deleted items for up to 14 days so it would take the 14 days for those emails to be permanently deleted and thus no longer taking up that space.

QUESTION:
If I "Purge" the trash folder, is that still taking up disk space in regards to my quota?
ANSWER:
Yes. Purged items do take up space in webmail. Once again this is due to the 14 day email recovery system we have in place.

QUESTION:
What is the difference between "purge" and "trash"
ANWSER:
Sending an email to trash means just moving it to the trash folder. Purging would mean deleting it from the webmail, where that particular item is still available to be recovered for 14 days post that, it can't be recovered. Trash items can be recovered as long as they are in the Trash folder.

QUESTION:
If I purge or trash the emails in a folder are they gone for good or can they also be recovered within 14 days
ANSWER:
They would be available for 14 days to be recovered.

QUESTION:
Do emails that are recoverable also take up disk space for that user?
ANSWER:
Yes, since recoverable emails are still in that mailbox, they take up storage quota.

QUESTION:
My email account is full (using up the allotted 25GB of space). It appears I cannot delete emails however?

ANSWER:
Please check the number of items are they decreasing or not. Sometimes, when we have so many items in a folder it doesn't look like they are being deleted.

QUESTION:
Is the Roar Solutions team able to do this type of task and delete the emails in a specific folder for us?
ANSWER:
Unfortunately, we are not allowed to perform such actions on a user mailbox. There are liability issues and we need to leave the deletion of any emails up to each end user to handle.

QUESTION:
If I right click and select "purge" deleted items does that delete them permanently?
ANSWER:
They would be permanently deleted after the 14 days recover period provided to users.

You could fasten the task by using a mail client like Outlook. Deleting the items from the trash folder would be faster and easier.
